# Tomes of Knowledge

Tomes of Knowledge are ancient books scattered around the world map. Players will have to collect Tomes of Knowledge to gain Passive Skill Points.

### How do they work?

You simply click a Tome, like a chest quest. Each time a player finds and "uses" a Tome to acquire 1 Passive Skill Point, the Tome will disappear! This means only one player will be able to get the Point. However, players can now pick up found Tomes instead of immediately using them. These Tomes can then be sold or bought on the Market, enabling a new layer of strategy and trading among players.

### **Spells to Locate Tomes in *****Eternal Odyssey***

To help players locate Tomes of Knowledge, two unique spells have been introduced. These spells are designed to make the hunt for Tomes more interactive and accessible for players, while adding strategic depth to exploration.

***

#### **1. Tomus Exiva**

* **Type**: Free Spell
* **Mana Cost**: 10
* **Functionality**: This spell provides basic guidance to help players locate Tomes within a **20 sqm radius**. It is a binary detection tool that simply informs the player if a Tome is nearby ("Yes" or "No").
* **Limitations**:
 * It does not reveal the exact location or direction of the Tome.
 * It can detect Tomes on different floors (above or below).
* **Use Case**: Ideal for early-game players or those exploring without premium features, as it gives a general sense of whether they are in the right area to find a Tome.

***

#### **2. Tomus Amp Exiva**

* **Type**: Premium Spell (available in the in-game store)
* **Mana Cost**: 10
* **Functionality**: This advanced spell offers detailed guidance within a **40 sqm radius**, providing players with directional information to locate the Tome more precisely.
* **Features**:
 * Pinpoints the direction of the Tome (e.g., North, East, South, West) and accounts for diagonal directions (e.g., Northeast, Southwest).
 * Indicates if the Tome is located **on a higher or lower floor**, adding a 3D element to exploration.
 * Makes Tome hunting more efficient and less time-consuming, especially in complex environments such as caves, dungeons, or multi-story ruins.
* **Use Case**: Recommended for mid- to late-game players who want a more refined Tome-hunting experience or are navigating difficult terrains with multiple levels.

### Where to find Tomes?

They can be EVERYWHERE on the map, including unreachable places. Tomes may spawn in the deepest parts as well as in the highest parts of the map. Each hour, 3 Tomes spawn on the map with an appropriate announcement. Players can actively search for these Tomes or trade for them in the Market.

Additionally, up to 60 Tomes are reserved to be fixed in iconic quests and dungeons. So far, 35 fixed Tomes have been added, with more planned as work in progress. Each [dungeon ](/dungeons.md)contains 1 Tome; for quests that have Tomes, please go to the [Quests ](/quests.md)section.
